I find Trapez can be a bit hit and miss, and they seem to be going in quite a proggy direction. Also definitely worth checking out is the sub-label, Trapez Ltd. Tends to have darker stuff on it. Check out the Coccopuffs EP by Und, bloody wicked stuff... http://www.discogs.com/release/344574

Yeah, "Christmas" is wicked, and "Ambivalente" on http://www.discogs.com/release/442111 is none-too-shabby either. reminds me of some older Dettinger stuff sort of.

FWIW I lost track of Trapez/Traum for a long time (err... I didn't have much of a record buying budget when they first hit the shops, so missed all of the early ones) but have made considerable effort to catch up in the last couple of years. Thing is I've listened to loads of it but I buy maybe 1 in 10 records, and some of that verging-on-electroclash sutff they started putting out last year was fairly horrendous, although you can hear bits of that on the Coccopuffs EP and it *almost* works. For that matter, i find most of the clickier labels tend to be fairly inconsistent but the good stuff is defintiely out there, it just requires persistence to find it.

What I find interesting is that a lot of the artists I associate with these sounds seem to be moving away from the clicks 'n cuts model. I think a lot of the producers are quite talented and it will be interesting to see what direction they take going forward. For instance the Thomas Jirku track on Arbutus 002 sounds an awful lot like Fabrice Lig, and I don't know how you would characterise the Akufen remix of Brooks! Funk???
