The reason Hotmail was disallowed was spam. For a while you couldn't
sub GMail accounts either. But since I approve all subscriptions,
it's up to me and I don't care if someone wants to read 313 on
hotmail. I approve all subscriptions that come through unless they're
obviously a bot or some clown intent on spamming. I also read
everything posted to the list, usually many times a day (every time I
type 'make' in an emacs window).

So unless I'm sick or in transit somewhere, I will detect and ban any
spammers, usually within an hour or so. Hasn't been a problem so far,
knock on wood. I was even handling subscribe requests when I was
travelling in Europe last summer, without a computer.

So if you have a hotmail account and are just dying to read 313 from
it, go ahead and subscribe. Personally the only webmail interface I
can stand is GMail, but it's horses for courses innit?

Uh, Kent - I thought 313 didn't allow Hotmail and other free accounts? I
used to use my Hotmail email for the list but then went on a long vacation
and unsubed. When I came back it wouldn't allow me to use it anymore.
Therefore, I use my work account since I'm always checking it.
