(Amsterdam, NL) - According to Lebanese news website Yalibnan.com,
terrorist organization Fatah AL-Islam, which is said to be part of the Al
Qaeda network has threatened DJ Tiësto, as he is set to perform in Beirut
on July 2nd. Reason for the threat is the recent Lebanese government's
action against Fatah AL-Islam, which is known as an extremist, violent
terrorist group.
Lebanon has recently been the target of renewed terrorist activity. Last
Sunday, members of the Fatah group attacked the city of Tripoli, a refugee
camp, a shopping center and an upscale neighborhood, rendering them a
serious threat to the DJ's and the clubbers safety.Tiësto is extremely
popular in the Middle East, with many of his performances being sellout
successes. He is also an icon of the west, as his co operations with
Disneyland, but also the peaceful Olympic Games reveal. As his presence is
very important to the tourism sector of the country, which is being
sabotaged by the terrorist group, he is a crucial target, as an attack
would scare many foreign tourists away. He is not the only one under
threat, as Shakira had planned to come over, but mysteriously disappeared
According to the news source:"Rumors have emerged that Fatah al-Islam has
directly threatened to kill DJ Tiësto if dares to show up for his planned
July 2 concert in Beirut. The Dutch DJ has been voted as the world's best
for the past several years. On October 1, 2005, Tiësto broke records when
he made his long awaited debut in Beirut. Over 16,000 showed up to party
with their beloved Tiësto at Forum de Beirut, in what was been coined the
largest event ever in the Middle East."
