Well, I hit Record Time last night and came away with a couple of gems. .CSM-2 by Kevin Tobler (CSM): Is this Serotonin sublabel still running? I haven't been able to find out much information, but I really love one of the tracks on this. It has that ultra-tight percussion sound that some of the Cologne material uses.

It's got the sort of "sheets of sound" that I associate with his style. I picked this up to fill some of the holes in my Chain Reaction back catalog. http://home.snafu.de/circonium/music/cr.html ."system medley" by snd (City Centre Offices): This is a very nice piece of work by snd. I didn't care much for their full-length "makesndcassette", because it was just too much of the same thing. They didn't change their sonic palette on the album, making for a very long excursion and ultimately it was just too samey for my tastes. I love the snd "newtables" 12" I have, though, so I think the key to listening to their material is having it in small doses. This 7", on Thaddi Hermann's City Centre Offices label, is the perfect small dose. "System Medley", the one track, uses basically the same palette of pitched percussion sounds as the other snd material, but breaks down into a nice stuck-groove sounding loop about 2/3 of the way through, which then resolves nicely. The other side features locked grooves, which would work perfectly with some of the fuzzy beatless ambient material http://www.city-centre-offices.de/ Cheers, Bill / dj marathon -- AppNet MidWest Interactive [formerly Sigma6] / http://www.appnet.com now available: http://techno.ca/cognition/show598.htm always on: http://www.chromedecay.org
