After receiving this gem today, i can confidently
say that this is another fine release by those folks
in New Zealand. Michael Upton and Bevan Smith
form the duo, Patio. You may recognize their work
on the (limited) Involve compilation from 1999. They've
both released material on Involve in separate ways:
Bevan works as the lo-end melodic beat entity -Aspen,
and Michael as the crispy downbeat electronica outfit -Jet
Jaguar. The new "Parallel Play" takes both of these
musical styles and forms a soothing intersection of
heavily drenched beats and subtle electric debris that
is peaceful and engaging.

Basically, if you're looking for deep and burbling electronic
listening music that is experimentally intact, and intelligently
crafted, then this one is for you. I personally enjoy the fact
that the Involve label have been producing a style of music
that surpasses most output these days.
"Parallel Play" is quite simply something you would
expect after hearing Aspen's "Are You That Retail Snob?"
and Jet Jaguar's self titled masterpiece. Put both of
them together, and you have a formula that cannot
be broken, copied, or altered. Peculiar artwork on
this title, but a fine release nonetheless. Prepare you
cd-players, they'll be excited too!
