I think he gave in far too quickly and easily to "make a pop album" --
sounds like he took notes while listening to a few Depeche/Moroder records
and presto, he's got a pop record...

As for the vocals, I think he could've done much better too. At his best
Ricky Aloof sounds like a second-rate Jason Pierce (Spiritualized), at his
worst he sounds like a fourth-rate Horace Andy.
