LCD Soundsystem is James Murphy, half of DFA Records (with Tim Goldsworthy, cofounder of MoWax who's been in New York the last few years).
The flip of "Losing My Edge" is "Beat Connection," which you can hear along with other DFA stuff at: http://www.epitonic.com/labels/dfarecords.html Beat Connection is also a good tune, with a cool/annoying vocal, but Losing My Edge is a classic novelty tune along the lines of Sandwiches (different subject line, but equally catchy). They are starting to call this stuff "underground rock," but it reminds me a lot of Nu Groove and reeeal early Strictly with that throw-it-in-the-blender raw production style. Weh kewl... phred
