Thanks for the heads up David. Had a very similar incident a while ago with two characters just down the road in Stoke. They claimed to have booked Alistair Whitehead, but spoke to Shelly (his wife) in the afternoon and he wasn't booked.
By the time we tried to do anything about it, it was too late. Ended up with non of the DJ's they advertised, a sound system that had been compromised to the point of them bypassing the limiters, and the bouncers had to break down the DJ box door after they refused to stop. Worst of all, they'd done it under the name of the student union, so it took weeks to get our regular night's reputation back to normal. Some of the smaller colleges may only have part-time staff, but they can point you in the right direction.
