Like, I said I do not endorse this kinda journalism - the build them up and knock them down school - and I would not write for Muzik myself. It has hurt too many folks I know. Constructive criticism and analysis is one thing, character assassination another. That Derrick May interview of a couple of years ago was appalling.
Yet I think KS is right and there is another story behind this unprovoked swipe. Incidentally I loved that image accompanying the Innerzone Orchestra review in the latest edition of Vibe. Carl is wearing a straightjacket with Francisco Mora and Craig Talborn in medical outfits. I wish we had been given this image for the media here! There is only one recent image in circulation, from the Australian record label, so magazines are using older ones, which kinda sucks. Innerzone has had fantastic support in Australia with lots of great reviews and media and the label investing in well-placed advertisements and really putting their weight into the project. It's great to see this in a climate in which labels tend to support those big electronica outfits. It has briefly restored my faith in majors. So I hope Carl returns here soon. I was hoping to post a report on Stacey Kidd at the Prince Of Wales in Melbourne tonight but the two cabs I booked got jacked by others and I couldn't wait out in the cold for more than an hour in the hope of waiting for a third. Boy, am I mad.
