"There is a Light That Never Goes Out". I know that a German artist named Schneider TM covered this. Sounds like it could be the same one you speak of. If I remember correctly, he renamed his version to something like "The Light", so you might have trouble tracking it down. It was a pretty damn cool cover version tho.
