That's pretty much where I was coming from. I mean, some people scarcely
stray form the 12". 

Just to completely contradict my case, I was most pleased with the six track
3x12" release of The Tuss album, as each track has more than sufficient
space at 45, and it sounds fantastic. And they kept costs pretty low. Hard
to see how they made much money on that although surely AFX sells buttloads
of records.
