Was listening to Bill Nelson's "Chance Encounters in the Garden of Lights" this past week. Very Durutti Column sounding. Speaking of which - I think Vini & Co. are coming out with a new album soon. I've been listening to a lot of droney/ambient shoegaze guitar music lately.
One of my favorite ambient-techno artists is Susumu Yakota. I recently picked up "Sakura". Also Rei Harakami - the Japanese iTunes store has a bunch of his stuff but without a Japanese billing address you can't get it. I had a gift card and wanted to buy them. I also like a number of the releases on the Elektrolux label although they've gotten really "tech-house" and "progressive house" as time has progressed. Their earlier ambient releases are pretty good. Oh, and stuff on the Touch label is always interesting.
