Beta Nightclub (http://www.betanightclub.com) is a few blocks from my loft (Beta is at 19th and Blake in Denver). The space was formerly called Rise and was a latin dance music club. Sadly, the space is in the center of what I call "frat row". I went to Rise a few times with friends and it was just that - frat boys with booty-dancing women.
I'm betting Beta will take about 6 months to get off the ground and nail its target market. For the early days, I bet the same frat boys looking to get laid will frequent the place --even though $15/nightly cover will deter them a bit. Tonight's the Z-Trip VIP opening night. And Saturday is the Steve Bug opening night ($25). Tempting to head down, but I'm cautious that beyond the cover, the (probably) expensive drinks will keep me away, sadly. I really hope it takes off, but by the time it does....I'll be gone. -m On Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 7:47 PM, kent williams <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > You can vote on the Beatport awards at > http://www.beatportal.com/awards -- it's mostly kind of Detroit > un-friendly, and the whole idea of 'best hard house producer' is kind > of like 'kindest murderer' as a category, but there's a couple of > categories you can vote for 313-lister Chymera (Brendan Gregoriy) who > is a good guy in addition to being an ace producer in the techno vein. > > In other Beatporty news, they're opening a new club in Denver near > their office.
