The week before last's Wild Kingdom radio show marked the fifth in a series of "Dutch Treat" mini-features highlighting some aspect of Lowlands techno. The focus was early (mostly pre-'93) tracks from Eindhoven power house label Djax-Up-Beats. The formative days of the label were rife with gorgeous work from budding (then) talents like Terrace, Edge of Motion, Ismistik, Major Malfunction, REC, Spasms, Random XS, Trance Induction, and others. I also included a track from Signal to Noise (Alan Oldham/DJT-1000), as he was the first Detroit artist signed to Djax. Also, as the chief illustrator for the label, he had a pivotal role in its recognition factor - any of you who have a few vintage Djax 12"s know exactly what I mean. The track listing for that set is available at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=31246 .

Last week, I took a little time off to attend a conference of amateur audio designers in San Francisco. KFJC colleague SAL9000 did the honors in my absence - her set list can be found at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=31293 .

This week's show is a shotgun blast of diverse tracks from the likes of Derrick May, Steve Rachmad, Diffusion, The Martian, East Island, Clementine, Acid Junkies, Tim Harper, Steve Poindexter, and others. Next week's Dutch treat will feature the work of Orlando Voorn. It'll be an extra-long treat, as my show straddles the time change from Daylight Savings time to Daylight Wasting time.

KFJC's 2008 fundraiser continues - help us out at 650-941-6800 and on line at www.kfjc.org . I'll be offering the Goodwrench matching challenge, so if you have a yen to donate, I'll match the donation, up to a total of $1k. Euros are appreciated as well.

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning, 12A-3A (7A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay area can find a webcast at www.kfjc.org (follow the links). Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived there. You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just Desserts" that aired on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve 1999/2000.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events. If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC promotions department at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to arrange ticket giveaways and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks to those who have sent promo music so far.
