I not sure if this would be directly related to cache... What do you mean by
some arrays end up undersized?

In either case, Adaptive Cache is designed for the situation where you do not
know how much memory will be available on the machine, for example if you
provide you application for download on a website and the installer may be
running it on a machine with 2GB or 64GB... Adaptive cache allows you to set a
range and a reserve and a percentage, allowing you to setup some criteria for
how the cache should be handled. Usually setting the percentage to 50%, set
minimum to 100MB and the maximum to a high value like 64GB is enough for 90% of
the installations - the other 10% will require fine tuning.

However, if you have control of the server machine and know how much memory is
installed on it, then I suggest disabling Adaptive Cache and just setting an
actual value. This will remove any calculations and will make it much more
clear to you what the actual setting it.
