R releases in the broader sense refer to the channel, not a specific "version", which are sometimes called snapshots. today the current R release is 16R4 but in a few months the same link will take you to 16R5 pages. past R release documents are archived at livedoc.4d.com, but the principle is that you don't deploy an R release unless you have plans to keep it updated
