one possible factor could be the cache size.

during development, it is normally not necessary to reserve a large amount of 
memory for the data cache, as you will spend most of your time in design mode.

it might be better to change your cache size (which is optimised for deployment 
and very large) to a minimal value so that more application memory becomes 
available for design mode features.

UI objects (menu, window, etc) consume a significant amount of memory.
