one other thing you could try: I do not know how to do this in 4D write (I do not use it) but I'll expect that while 'Times' is gone, there is a 'Times New Roman' these fonts are nearly identical, and I suspect that 'Times' is gone forever as a standard font on Mac OS.
If you can switch the font from time to times new roman, and possibly remove the 'times' font from the user choice(s) of fonts. that will probably remove a headache that is otherwise coming at you.
