apologies for a possible 'too quick to post scenario'; the issue may have been related to wrongly configured network settings/host lists on both machines. [though the laptop does act a bit lethargically with no connection in gnome and gnome apps in kde] i will reinstall beta3 on the main pc, continue to test the laptop, and see if the issue still occurs. once again, sorry for the too early possibly false report. hopefully its only just a human/user error ;)
-------- Original Message -------- Subject: severe system lockups Date: Thu, 02 Apr 2009 21:00:03 -0500 From: [NOYX] <[email protected]> Organization: [ NOYX - STUDIO ] To: [email protected] installed 3beta3 on 2 different systems, and have experienced the same system lockup/freeze issue on both while using kde3.5. each install went fine and ran well for a few days after updates and installing the k desktop environment, but eventually would fail to load certain apps right away[mainly the gnome-freindly ones i believe, such as synaptic or firefox], and then minutes later would pop up frozen, and then some time after lockup the whole system enitrely. i was able to switch to tty1-6 on the laptop, kill kde and it was back to the login; but unable to do so on the pc using my usb keyboard, eventually having to resort to a hard reboot/shutdown. the pc had x86_64 version= amd64 athlon x2 3800+, asus a8-sli premium mainboard, 4gb ram, xfx/nvidia geforce 7300gs [being that it is my main everyday system, needed to reinstall the backed-up previous version] brand new laptop has i386 version currently installed= fujitsu a6110; intel core2duo t2750[64bit]; 2gb ram; intel gm965 chipset+video let me know if any other info is needed. will be using gnome, enlightenment, or kde4 to test further. thanks much :) _______________________________________________ 64studio-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-devel
