hello daniel- i have pinned the issue down [i think] to being ssh/sftp related. happens in both kde and gnome after large/many file transfers. not sure if this is kernel specific or just ssh/sftp. the older 2.1 kernel and release still works fine and has for as long as its been running on my main system. i often ssh into a lan server and transfer files at will [sometimes for backups]; but ever since the 3beta3, these system freeze/lockups have been happening like clockwork some short time after a transfer. currently the x86_64 2.1 is still solid [after restoring the backup], even when ssh-ing into the laptop which is running the i386 3beta3, which soon locks up afterwards. hope this helps ;) let me know whatever else i can do. -thanx much Daniel James wrote: > Hi Noyx, > >> apologies for a possible 'too quick to post scenario'; the issue may >> have been related to wrongly configured network settings/host lists on >> both machines. > > Even so, the machines shouldn't freeze up.
