#516: kernel panic on boot with new motherboard --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- Reporter: [email protected] | Owner: [email protected] Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: build | Version: Severity: normal | Keywords: --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- 64 Studio 3.0 beta 3, both 32 and 64 bit 2.6.29-1-multimedia kernel
I replaced the motherboard and RAM, and now 64 Studio will not boot. It goes as far as the GRUB menu, and then immediately kernel panics. http://bratgrrl.com/wtf.jpg shows the messages I was able to capture; the first few lines fly by too quickly to read. I have Kubuntu 8.04 on the same machine with several older kernels, and it boots and runs normally: 2.6.24-24-rt[[BR]] 2.6.24-24-generic[[BR]] 2.6.24-23-rt[[BR]] 2.6.24-23-generic I have tried booting with different kernel options, such as: nohz=off[[BR]] nohz=on[[BR]] clocksource=jiffies[[BR]] clocksource=acpi_pm[[BR]] I tried re-installing 64 Studio, both 32 and 64 bit, still the same behavior. Motherboard:[[BR]] ECS A740GM-M motherboard[[BR]] AMD740G north bridge (really a warmed-over RS690)[[BR]] SB700 south bridge If you want any more information let me know. thanks!
