Im also not talking about value in the way of features, but specifically in regards to my specific use case, which will be different for your needs. personally, i do not use USB interfaces. i have a few stereo ones around for testing ubuntustudio, and support reasons, but i dont use them for any production.. why? if im in a studio paying $100+ per hour, they are not using a USB interface. i try and emulate a pro scenario when i can, and when i consider the scenario and similarly cost effective. am i saying you shouldnt use USB? or USB is bad? of course not.. IF my firepod were to stop working today, the first thing i would do is look for a used one to replace it with.. the firepod was a great value when it was new, and used at around $200 or so, it would be even a better deal. is the presonus firepod the best thing ever? of course not.. but it *is* a great value device. i would want to determine what the issue actually is before moving on. i would try and hook the firepod up to a windows machine, and update the firmware (even if i had already done that) and test the unit with windows while im in there.. i would try the unit with other firewire hardware.. i would try other firewire devices on the hardware that is failing to working with the firepod. just basic classic troubleshooting.. removing variables and testing.. good luck! > > ______________________________**_________________ > 64studio-devel mailing list > [email protected].**com <[email protected]> > http://lists.64studio.com/**mailman/listinfo/64studio-**devel<http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-devel> > -- MH mikeholstein.info <http://www.mikeholstein.info/>
