oops - sent this to the wrong place i think :(

I've done a little more to try and work out what is happening.

First I cleared out every trace of Rosegarden. Every file and directory
I could find in the system area and user area.

Next I checked that I only had the 'lenny' repositories active.

I did a full KDE install, not just the base files, then checked for any
possible updates. The only one I rejected was for the kernel as it's not
RT

Finally I installed the 'lenny' version of Rosegarden.

Guess what - exactly the same problem.

If I uninstall that and reinstall a locally compiled 1.6.1 version I
have no problems (I did try compiling 1.7 but that crashes as well).

FWIW if I have a key pressed and then start recording nothing happens
until I lift the key - then total collapse. So this problem occurs with
both note on and note off messages. As I said, no other messages seem
to do this.

Finally, if I have jack disabled, so Rosegarden connects direct to the
soundcard MIDI port I still get this crash, which eliminates jack as a
possible cause.

It can't be the sound card because (with jack running) a virtual
keyboard has the same effect.
