Normally you are asked if scripts should be preserved or not. I never
run into this trouble, or I can't remember it. The consistent device
numbers described by number 12 in http://www.64studio.com/faq_user
shouldn't be changed. But I never made an update from 2.0 to 2.1.
Problematic e.g. seems to be the change from splash=silent to nosplash.
After upgrading the kernel, the menu.lst will be edited, ignoring
changes like this. On the other hand, if als-base changed a lot, it
won't be good to preserve it.
