Hi Gustin :) hi all of you :) now I also understand why I have to overwrite the old MBR. I thought it's possible to choose the boot order for the HDs too, but it's only possible to select HD, but not which one. Because of the partition table I think it's wrong to overwrite 512 B. I will search the internet if it's really 446 B and before doing this, I'll backup the MBR or I simply install Suse 11.0, just now I see it's out since 06/19/2008. I don't know if 64 Studio or any other Linux will give me a GUI to choose were to uninstall or install GRUB, but I know that Suse's YaST was able to do this and I guess they didn't change this. The Postwoman rings shortly after 9, when I was half asleep. I installed the SATA HD and demounted a Linux incompatible PCI Card, that still is sold as Linux compatible, but not by my dealer. I sent it back to my dealer and have not to pay the mail charges myself. Probably I will partion the new drive during the day, copy 64 Studio to the new drive, see if it's possible to fix the CHS/LBA inconsistency of the old drive in a simple way, without something strange like a low level format and starting tomorrow to make music with 64 Studio. I won't use Suse at the moment or do anything else, even not for 64 Studio, e.g. working on the DVD-RAM trouble. The new drive is silent, but the case sides sometimes are caused to vibrate, laying with the ear on the case my ear-rings are dancing. I only have to fix the case sides better, if it will annoy me. No noise at the moment, after pressing the sides against the case. I think it will be better for the lives of both hard disks, if I will decouple them from the case, but this is a problem of space and not easy to do, because I don't think it's good to position the old drive vertically. Without damping pasted into the low-cost case it's nearly perfect, only the sides have too much backlash. To be realistic, accidents will happen, I think I can start making music with Linux within the next days. I believe it will be the first time without limitations, excepted of the to low vertical refresh rate for the monitor. I hope I'll get no effects with the RAM, because of the integrated ATI. Links to .gig and SynAddSubFx sounds would be fine, also for Soundfonts, but I think I found the free Soundfonts myself. At http://www.linuxsampler.org/instruments.html they have a MIDI recording of Chopin. Outlandish but maybe it's possible without using quantize. I have to do the shopping for the weekend, on Sundays German shops aren't allowed to be opened. The separation of church and state is 1001 years away. Nice weekend to everyone :). Cheers, Ralf
