WARNING: This is an unfinished report of an unfinished research ! Hi list, here's what I've got to share about trying to run synthedit in wine ...
installed packages: libwine, libwine-alsa, -cms, -dbg, -dev, -esd, -gl, -gphoto2, -jack, -ldap, -oss, -print, -sane, wine, wineasio, wine-bin, wine-utils version: 1.0-rc4-1.64studio1-etch1 not installed: fst, ... working audio device: dmix:0,FORMAT=S32_LE (only when Jack is not running) from http://64studio.com/howto_vst : "VSTHost requires a standard Microsoft library to run, which does not have an equivalent in Wine. Copy MSFC42.DLL from a Windows XP system to ~/.wine/c_drive/windows/system32/ or download it from http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vc/mfc42.cab and use http://packages.debian.org/etch/cabextract to unpack it." Advice by Dave Philips: "I've heard that if you put a native Windows gdiplus.dll in the Wine system32 directory you might be able to run some otherwise "difficult" plugins." ... So I need MSFC42.DLL and gdiplus.DLL I didn't install these files yet and did a 'save as vst' export from synthedit1.0. The file is FreqBeat.dll in LACIE/syntheditwithwinetryout/ folder. loading it in synthedit didn't work. the error message said "can't find the FreqBeat.dat file". recording a wavfile from synthedit with the wavefilerecorder: all other sound outputs had to be deleted. report from wave recorder : Wave Recorder : 22.0 seconds of sound rendered in 26.81 s. Efficiency is 82.15% (my PC is a P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 RAM) I clicked 'OK' and can now listen to the .wav file. Then I installed the latest version of Synthedit alpha release ... available here : http://www.synthedit.com/sdk3_docs/index.htm [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/SEv11$ msiexec /i SE_XP.msi err:ntlm:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Also, the only available winbind package is version 3.0.24 . Btw, there's an interesting report and short tutorial about synthedit, wine bottles and wine 0.9.32 here<http://synthedit.audioholik.com/index.php?name=forums&file=viewtopic&p=1031>: http://synthedit.audioholik.com/index.php?name=forums&file=viewtopic&p=1031 I'll install the other .dll files when I find the time, as I'm concentrating on learning C++ and Anjuta has some issues too, but I'll discuss that in another post later . Any other ideas welcome ... greetings Peter
