Hi Nicolas :)

if you compile a real-time kernel yourself, take care to do the right
settings for your CPU.

In the link, I compiled a kernel-rt for an AMD dual core:

"Processor family (X) Opteron/Athlon64/Hammer/K8
(2) Maximum number of CPUs (2-255)"

You need to choose the kind 0f CPU you've got, AMD or Intel.

For maximum number of CPUs the 64 Studio default has a value of 32 or 64
or something like this, that's why I guess it's okay to select a number
that is higher, but maybe you can't choos 2, if you are using a quat core.

Actual rt patch is 2.6.24.7-rt21
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/.

So "64studio:/usr/src# wget
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/patch-2.6.24.7-rt17.bz2";
has to be changed from rt17 to rt21.

For more information take a look at Wikipedia. At the moment I can't
remember where the most informations are to find.

Cheers,
Ralf
