I am using Linux EVERY DAY - FOR EVERYTHING.
I have 3 instances of 64 Studio running on 3 very different pieces of
hardware, and each is doing exactly what it is intended to do.
My entertainment system is running MythBuntu. All of these systems run
multimedia applications every day.
Hi Quentin,
the newbie i am is tryin to run only Linux (without Wine...) on a P4 32
bits PC with 1go RAM and 2 hard disks,
and runnin' several instances of 64 Studio sounds good to my ears.
When you say :"I have 3 instances of 64 Studio running [...] each is
doing exactly what it is intended to do", do you means that you have not
the same "os soft config" (sorry if it's not the exact word)))) for
internet than the one you run for using Ardour (in example) ?
I assume the good way is to active the netboard only if you need it,
etc... am i right ?
What i like to do is :
- a Linux for making music, with Jack, Ardour, Rosegarden, Hydrogen,
Jamin and all the cool stuff i found in 64studio, with a light wm
(Fluxbox ?)
- a Linux for Icedove, Iceweasel, XMMS and VLC, sometimes The Gimp and
watching photos, with Gnome wich i like
In practice, is it better to have a multi boot (so 2 root, home, etc..
directories) or to create 2 different users in the same "/" ?
In fact, is it possible when you change user to completely change the
config, including the window manager ?
Thanks for the direction you can give to my config, especially the
"blind-testing" time i can save with your tips,
i have this free cover of the Beatles "Taxman" to record, the tune is
titled "Tuxman" and i like to prove my laughin' people it can be done !

I no longer
have these experiences, yet I interact with the very same communities.
All that has changed has been my attitude and behaviour. Most of that

Hi Gustin,
thanks for this link, it helps to understand many things !
I'll try to act this cool way, here and maybe elsewhere..
