Ubuntu leaves the root account without and pam denies the login because there is no password. This is a common Ubuntu practice. It is usually a good idea to use sudo whenever you need to do something as root. If you really need root access: sudo passwd This will set a root password and you should be able to log in to the machine as root. Seriously though, use sudo even if you set a root password. There is very little that requires an actual root account. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAklikn0ACgkQwRXgH3rKGfO2ygCaA0+yqN8j8FDP7lOgUMv8QWDl gPoAn1gz1/9QtlGYX3gX1U5rN/6Q45Ww =kuWK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
