I don't live in Victoria, but visit there often. Victoria is a small big-town and very enjoyable. I believe most people are staying in the Victoria harbor area. You can easily walk the entire downtown in a couple of hours. BC Transit is the public transportation system and I believe bus #15 is the best one to get to UVic from Victoria. The schedule shows it leaves every 15-20 minutes and takes about 20-25 minutes.
