I prefer to run my system with a larger font and find this largely works well See http://sciops.net/downloads/vga/ for a large version of the VGA font. You may also pre-render truetype fonts to your preferred size, a blog post about that can be found here https://ftrv.se/21 This takes advantage of https://git.sr.ht/~ft/ttfs , which is the best tool I have found to convert TrueType fonts to Plan 9 with good smoothing.
