When attempting to run the 9legacy USB distribution:
https://www.9legacy.org/download/plan9-usb.img.bz2 on a 64-bit Intel
system, the boot procedure freezes at "into bios in real mode..." and
only pressing the RESET switch has any effect. This an oldish ASUS
motherboard with only PCI connectors and SATA support. I searched around
but I have not yet found a way to get past this. I presume it is related
to security in some fashion and can probably be worked around by
changing the BIOS settings, but I could not find anything appropriate.
Any suggestions?
Also, when booting the 9legacy ISO (820 megabytes, I wonder if it can be
trimmed to fit on the conventional 700 megabytes of a writable CD?), I
can't seem to get a USB mouse to be detected and the trackpad isn't
supported (in ps2intellimouse mode) enough to get button 3 function: the
shift key doesn't seem to make any difference while held down with
either right or left buttons. Again, I am probably missing something,
I'm happy to add the details to the wiki (or be directed to them) if
this can be sorted out easily.
