My mom has a problem with her Outlook Express. She has Windows XP (Home Edition), Norton Systemworks (Norton Antivirus is included), and Corecomm internet service. In her Norton Antivirus, she likes to have her incoming email scanned. Since she first started using Norton Systemworks a month ago, she had no problem receiving her email while using the incoming email scanning option. There were times when she could receive 300 messages with no problem whatsoever. On 12-07-04, 11 PM, she got an error message saying that her mail server had shutdown unexpectedly after only receiving 20 to 40 of her 265 messages (None of her email messages were large at all.). She then tried to open her email again, and it happened again but after receiving a different number of messages. Since OE always starts with message 1 whenever it fails to get all the messages sent, she ended up with a lot of duplicates of messages. We tried technical support out (They had us remove both our internet and mail accounts and recreate them again.), and that didn't solve our problem until the technician had us uncheck the incoming email scanning option on her Norton Antivirus (My mom objected to this move because she wants her email messages checked for viruses as they enter her computer. The technical support then told me that their Corecomm Defender will depend her email against viruses but my mom still trusts Norton more.). Unchecking that option allowed us to finally get all the email. Whenever we tried to recheck that option and open the email, we got the error message again. Sometimes we got the error message before we ever received a message. Do any of you have a solution that would allow my mom to receive all her email again while still being able to scan her incoming email with Norton? I would appreciate a quick response because my mom receives 150 messages a day on average.
