The error in Outlook originally was probably related to an Internet
Explorer problem.  Outlook uses IE to generate the Outlook Today
screen, e-mail messages and some of the Outlook views.
To correct your situation.
Uninstall Office 97.
Uninstall Office 2000.
Reinstall IE6.0
Reinstall Office 2000.
