If its Yahoo Messenger you are using can I suggest you try the free MS Live Messenger from Microsoft.com instead. This will give you a totally independent log-in. And you can notify everyone of your change so they can get it as well.

We have ATT Yahoo DSL, Windows XP. Everything was going swimmingly until a few days ago. Now, my Yahoo Messenger keeps going off and on by itself intermittently. It is impossible to hold a conversation on it. I thought maybe I was losing my wireless connection, but no, it does this even though my signal is excellent. I have downloaded the newest version of Messenger, didn't help. Sometimes when I try to download something online, it resets the page and won't allow the download. Some web pages load okay, others take forever or not at all. I go to school online, and although I can log onto other areas of the school site, it won't let me log into the Discussion forum for my class or log into the Student Portal. Plus, for some odd reason, now when I log into my account on the regular Yahoo page, it has my Dad's name on my profile now instead of mine! I had this account way before we switched to ATT Yahoo DSL, and could log onto my old, established account independently before, but somehow, it has associated my independent Yahoo account and assigned my Dad's name to my old account. (The DSL service is paid through our phone bill, which is in Dad's name.)I have two antivirus and malware programs, and they both say there is no bug or malware. ( I have checked, and they don't conflict with each other.)I have tried to contact tech support, but they haven't helped at all. Does anyone have a clue as to what the heck is going on here? I am at my wits end here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
