You can have both versions of Word. Even run them at the same time. Are you wanting to install the whole Office 2010 Suite, or just Word? Simpler to do just Word. A couple things to keep in mind... * Only 1 version can be associated with the .doc file extension. You can choose which one. * Word 2010 will, by default, save docs in the format of .docx. You won't be able to open these in Word 2003 unless you download the free tool from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3 * You also have the option to set Word 2010 to save all documents in the old .doc format so you can open them in Word 2003. * Word 2010 requires at least Windows XP with SP3 installed. If you don't have SP3 installed you can download it free from the Microsoft website.
