Hello - well, first of all the game was written before Win8, and your friend's Dell is likely a 64bit (instead of 32bit) computer, so there's a chance the game simply is not supported under Windows 8. But try running it in Compatibility Mode for Windows 7 or XP. The game probably created a desktop shortcut which you click to run it? If so, right-click on that shortcut and you'll get a popup menu. Click the "Compatibility" tab, and then check the box to run the program in a mode for Windows XP. Click OK to go back to the desktop and give it a try. If it still won't run, try a couple different compatibility modes (Win8, WinXP SP2, etc.). Hopefully one of them will work. If you don't have a shortcut on the desktop, repost for instructions on how to create one.
