I have an HP laptop with winXP sp3. It has no webcam but I used to Skype using the internal mic. I bought a cheap webcam with mic and it works fine. But even though I didn't change any settings the internal mic stopped working. I looked at the volume settings which are loud. If it records at all the sound is barely audible. I clicked the taskbar icon and put a check in the mic box. Can't think of anything else, can you?
I don't turn the laptop on very often but will try any suggestions & get back to you ASAP. This happened over a year ago so forget about system restore.
