Ok thanks.

I was just doing some "back of the envelope" calculation on how fast
would be a FPGA board I just got and I wanted to see how it would
compare.

It wouldn't actually be that much faster. I'd estimate it at around
2^31.1 (computing "only" around 2000 chains in // so there should not
be any problem keeping them all busy).

Wouldn't help at all for the disk accesses tough.
