Your solution for your problem also worked for my problem.
I had been having the same problem with Thunderbird,  with all my folders 
except my inbox..
My  problem  was a bit convoluted, because WE7.2 would ` only work in the inbox 
folder.
However, doing what you suggested got things working again.
