Thanks, Aaron, that is what I want to do. I need a large database where I
can create all the fields and save different sections, such as: parents,
children, diseases etc. Then each instructor can manage their part of the
database and keep it up to date.

I think it would be helpful to divulge that SQL is simply a moniker for a
type of language (in the same way that HTML and XML both represent
structured language types), and in and of itself, does not designate a
specific program or utility.

While there are many different kinds of SQL related back-ends (or storage
mediums), I think that Hettie is most likely looking for is a front end that
allows for the easy creation and management of various databases. That could
be anything from Microsoft Excel to web based admin interfaces like
phpMyAdmin.

Unless your goal, Hettie, is database creation and administration, in which
case, you may want to have someone else design the database for you, and
give you an interface for adding new and editing existing records.
Otherwise, you will want to read up on the various flavors of SQL, and what
utilities are available for creating and maintaining databases. In that
case, I would recommend started with the Wikipedia SQL entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL.

Well, SQL Server has a free version; that's from Microsoft, and MySQL is
also free.

I haven't downloaded any sql software as I am new to sql. As long as it
works well with WE 7.2 I'll give it a go. I need a dartabase where I can
store different queries so someone else can also add, print and sort
records

Which of the software you named are free?

Thanks

Hettie

Which SQL database are you currently looking at? There's SQl Server 2012,
Oracle 11, and MySQL 5.5. Then, though not as common are Cybase, Informix,
and Sap.

Can someone please tell me whether or not the SQL database is compatible
with WE 7.2? If not, what other database database software should I use.
