Hi everyone, I guess many of you use Notepad or SimpleText to write abc. Being a programmer (sort of), I use a more advanced editor called Jed, a multi-platform, light editor compatible with Emacs and WordStar/Borland key bindings. I have written an abc extension mode for Jed that facilitates the task of editing .abc files. These are its features: - syntax highlighting - "do re mi" to "c d e" automatic conversion for Latin composers :-) - template generation for new tunes - automatic key generation: tell abc mode the number of sharps or flats, it'll create the K: field - note playing through the PC speaker: hear the notes as you type them! This feature is implemented using an external small program (beep) that runs under Linux or DOS/Win. Get Jed from its home page, http://space.mit.edu/%7edavis/jed - sources and binaries for Linux, Unix, and DOS/Win are provided. Grab abc mode from my home page, http://ibogeo.df.unibo.it/guido/#Jed Hope somebody else will benefit from it too.
