unicode caracters

Hello,
it would be nice to have the possibility to insert any Unicode
character.
This is especially useful when using e.g. "Lucida sans Unicode", and
saving as utf8.
I am thinking of a menu item "Insertion | Character" which opens the
whole extent of the chosen font.
Possible ?
