I'm assuming that this is the case, actually.

No, this isn't the case. The fonts get embedded just fine. The current
problem affects placing anything on the screen. This includes lines,
colored bacgrounds behind table cells, etc...

Yeah, no problem so long as someone is going to look at this. I spent my
hours fixing all sorts of bug in the printing and HTML layer this
afternoon. I don't think that XFT printing worked at all in 1.1.0 (or
ever, for that matter, having looked at the code), so this is likely
already quite an improvement over previous versions.
