I got that when I used xpdq / pdq to print to my Samsung ML-6050 (it uses an HP PCL5 emulation) - if I asked for a print in black and white. If I asked for a print in colour (note that it is not a colour printer), I got the black text on a white background: perfect. I'd only just installed the printer and pdq, so I don't know whether it's abiword or pdq that's responsible for this rather odd arrangement.
