This seems to be the case, though I don't know about versions as
AmiPro/WordPro have evolved. The format is not just unpublished, it's
notoriously unpublished, so reverse engineering is really the only
likely approach.

especially (but not exclusively) the Lotus parts. Here is one

BTW, besides .LWP, the previous popular extension for AmiPro documents
was .SAM (because before it was AmiPro it was Samna).
