Hi. I just went through a bunch of grief regarding Redhat 7.1 and trying to install AbiWord 0.9.4. You can try to upgrade all the dependency files (I got them from http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/index.html), but when I did that, the net effect was to break GNOME. If you have enough time, you might be able to track exactly what was missing, but I don't have that kind of time. Here are the Redhat 7.2(!) files that I installed to try to make the abiword-gnome 0.9.4 version work: gal-0.8-6.i386.rpm gal-devel-0.8-6.i386.rpm gnome-print-0.29-6.i386.rpm gnome-print-devel-0.29-6.i386.rpm libgal7-0.8-6.i386.rpm libgnomeprint15-0.29-6.i386.rpm Those ended up creating all sorts of problems with the sawfish window manager under gnome and fouled the desktop guide. I ended up restoring the original versions from Redhat's 7.1 list: gal-0.4.1-3.i386.rpm gal-devel-0.4.1-3.i386.rpm gnome-print-0.25-9.i386.rpm gnome-print-devel-0.25-9.i386.rpm libgal3-0.4.1-3.i386.rpm libgnomeprint11-0.25-9.i386.rpm I uninstalled abiword-gnome-RH7.1-0.9.4.1-1.i386.rpm, which is the version that demands all those other dependencies. Instead, I installed the GTK version: abiword-gtk-RH7.1-0.9.4.1.rpm I understand that there are some things the GTK version won't allow compared with the GNOME version because it doesn't have the gnome support, but at least it works with Redhat 7.1 (up2date). Don't forget to do the chkfontpath command mentioned in earlier messages. Someone who has far more time than I might be able to get the right combination of packages installed so that everything works nicely with the latest & greatest version of all the code, but don't want the maintenance work on my shoulders right now. I prefer that on Redhat's shoulders. Good luck. --Larry ----------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
