Suggestion: foot-notes

Hi,   I run a small college computer network where we have 10 PC's for student use with Mandrake 8.0. I want to avoid using Star Office because it seems buggy and takes too long to load. Abiword seems to be very nice to use but we can't use it because it doesn't let you do footnotes. This is essential if people are to use it for their essays.
