What you'll probably find is that a particular subscriber to the abiword-user list has a problem (probably transient) with domain routing. It could well be that an MX host for his/her mail domain somewhere has gone down, but the alternate path is looping back on itself, causing the failure. That's what it appears to me from reading the header extract that you supplied.

I sent two postings to the list at almost the same time, and which have arrived at "abiword-user" as they have both appeared on the list. In fact, I have received a reply to one of them from Dom. However, this morning I have received two messages about the postings: Message failed - too many hops From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2001 17:14:04 -0500 The following message failed because there were too many hops (23) Check for mail loops! --------------------------------------- Received: from 207.8.147.6 by indexer ([192.168.1.2] running VPOP3) with SMTP for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 21 Dec 2001 17:14:03 -0500 Received: (qmail 6048 invoked from network); 21 Dec 2001 22:11:39 -0000 Received: from 04-203.002.popsite.net (HELO indexer) (64.24.17.203) by mail.coolnet.net with SMTP; 21 Dec 2001 22:11:39 -0000 Received: from 207.8.147.6 by indexer ([192.168.1.2] running VPOP3) with SMTP for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 21 Dec 2001 17:13:53 -0500 Received: (qmail 28790 invoked from network); 21 Dec 2001 22:11:32 -0000 Received: from 04-203.002.popsite.net (HELO indexer) (64.24.17.203) by mail.coolnet.net with SMTP; 21 Dec 2001 22:11:32 -0000 Received: from 207.8.147.6 by indexer ([192.168.1.2] running VPOP3) with SMTP for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 21 Dec 2001 17:13:45 -0500 Received: (qmail 31684 invoked from network); 21 Dec 2001 22:11:24 -0000 Received: from 04-203.002.popsite.net (HELO indexer) (64.24.17.203) by mail.coolnet.net with SMTP; 21 Dec 2001 22:11:24 -0000 And so on. What does it mean, "too many hops"? Do I ignore these messages as my postings are OK and haven't failed? If I don't ignore them, what do I do? Again, sorry if this is OT.
