The developers were ask at the time they "gave in" to the desires of the majority if the "create new document on closing the last document" would be the default behavior and said it would. What we got was an ability to edit a profile which is not even close to what was promised. We were told this was a simple, trivial change. Why isn't it fully implemented then?
It was my mistake, it is implemented as Dom said, I was just editing the wrong place in the Abiword.Profile config file. It works as promised, just as a hidden feature.
